A Fellow Swimmer in Need of Help

To all SWSC Members

We are calling on all our swimmers, parents, family and friends to support Anna, Sean and the Browne family in their campaign to help get Anna her life changing surgery in America.

Please see below, Sean’s message:

To Whom it may concern,

I am writing this email with the hope of getting some support from fellow swimmers please. My name is Sean Browne and I’m 15 years old and I’m a swimmer with Mallow Swans in Mallow, Co, Cork.

Unfortunately our family was dealt with some awful news in June last year, when my younger sister Anna was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsly  and Cortical Visual Impairement, at the age of 6 years. Anna has always struggled and has been back and forth to doctors for years but nobody seemed overly concerned, s o this news has come as an awful shock.

Anna is slowly losing her mobility and will eventually end up in a wheelchair. This is very hard to watch and my mam especially is finding it really hard. Having spent the past few months crying she has also spent hours researching the internet and has found some hope…

Anna has been excepted for life changing surgery in America and the surgeon has guaranteed to remove all the spasticity from Anna’s body and to keep her mobile. However this surgery costs 100k. Anna will need two surgeries and have to spend 5 weeks in America for intense physio and will also require 2 years of intense physio on return to Ireland.

This is where I am hoping ye can help. I want to do all I can to make this happen and help my little sister, as it is so hard to watch her struggle on a daily basis.

I am hoping to hold an event on Monday the 7th of May/or another suitable date and I would love all Cork swimming clubs to come on board. I am aiming to do a charity swim from Malin Head  to Mizen Head, all entrants to donate 10 euro { or more/less if wished} to Anna’s campaign.

We swimmers could use this as the ultimate training session and push ourselves to the limit, all while supporting a little girl.

Please, please support me and help get my sister to America.

You can follow Anna’s story on https://www.gofundme.com/annas-dream-to-dance

Thank you so much

Sean Browne.
